INGREDIENTS (4 PORTIONS)
  • 1 kg chuck steak, cut into chunks
  • 1 tbsp Mediterranean sea salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper, coarsely ground
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 50 ml apple juice
  • 50 ml cider vinegar

PULLED BEEF

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Mix the salt, pepper, paprika, onion and garlic powder in a bowl then cover the chuck steak in the dry rub.
  • Place the pieces of chuck steak in a casserole with a lid and slow cook in the oven at 125°C for 4 hours.
  • Take out of the oven, lift out the steak and add the vinegar and juice to the casserole. Boil the liquid down until it has reduced to 1/3 its original level.
  • Roughly shred the meat with forks, place it back in the pan, mix everything together and serve immediately.
  • Serve the pulled beef in a bun with a BBQ sauce and pickled onion, gherkin and slaw.
